"artistic labels jump out at you from every corner.
Sheep, orchards, apples, dancing, young lovers, chickens"
James Crowden in Cider The Forgotten Miracle
In 1989 full of the joys of the UK’s first ever full cider distilling licence we began a search for an artist to illustrate our label. The celebrated sculptress Dame Elisabeth Frink painted the first – a ram's head (she already had her name down for half a dozen bottles).
Over the next decade new labels were designed for our three year old Somerset Cider Brandy by illustrious artists related to the West Country – all in return for the promise of Somerset Cider Brandy.
Elizbeth Frink was followed by Patrick Reyntiens OBE (1992), Lucy Willis (1993), Sir Peter Blake (1994), David Inshaw (1996), James Lynch (1997), Paddy Mounter 1998 and Candace Bahouth (1999).
